About Dennis Chinaworks

Dennis Chinaworks was launched in 1985 to make ceramics for collectors.  Sally and Richard Dennis then spent six years at Moorcroft pottery in Stoke-on-Trent where Sally was their chief designer.  Her many designs for Moorcroft include Carp, Finches, Lemons, Penguin, Polar Bear, Buttercup and numerous others.
Dennis Chinaworks was relaunched in l993 offering employment and training to young people in Somerset. Each pot is hand thrown by Rory McLeod.  The decorators Vanessa Thompson and Theresa Blackmore prepare each pot individually using traditional techniques of slip trailing and incising then paint with underglaze pigments, building layers of colour. Finally, each piece is signed by the Paintress, has the potters mark and is numbered and dated.
Sally's designs are influenced by the style of the Arts and Crafts movement and nature. She has fulfilled commissions for the Great Antiques Hunt (BBC), Lord Leighton Exhibition (Royal Academy of Arts), the Pugin Exhibition (Victoria and Albert Museum) and the National Portrait Gallery.

We attend  fairs in the South of England and can supply a list of dates and venues on request.
